Specimen Stability

Inoculate within 4 hours of collection.

Inoculated sample bottles stored at room temperature are stable for 15 days and are stable for 30 days if refrigerated.

Inoculate specimen container within 4 hours. Do not freeze.

 

The Immunological Fecal Occult Test (FIT) is specific for human hemoglobin. For this reason, the test requires a single (one) collection device annually and has no dietary restrictions. Most insurance carriers, including CMS only cover the cost of a single annual screening FIT test.
