Gentamicin, Peak
eDH Procedure Code(s)
LAB28 Gentamicin Level, Peak
Collection Information
Peak levels should be drawn 60 minutes after IM injection, or 30-90 minutes (30 minutes optimal) after the end of IV administration over 15-90 minutes.
Samples for antibiotic therapeutic drug monitoring are ideally drawn via peripheral venipuncture. When peripheral venipuncture is not possible refer to DH procedure ID 234 for guidance on appropriate collection site and steps to adequately flush the catheter/line. Subcutaneous ports (e.g. Mediports) should be avoided for sample collection due to a high risk of sample contamination.
