Specimen Collection Information
Group B Streptococcus (GBS) screening from vaginal-rectal swabs only. For optimal detection submit a swab from both the lower vagina and rectum.

Additional Specimen Instructions
This test is for the detection of Group B Streptococcus in pregnant woman. Swabs from other sites are not appropriate for screening of Group B Streptococcus.
In patients with penicillin allergy, Group B Streptococcus will automatically be cultured to enable testing for inducible clindamycin resistance.
