Specimens may be collected in a sterile container or urine vacutainer (grey top boric acid).

This test detects legionella pneumophila serogroup I. Patients infected with other
serogroups or species will be non-reactive.

Legionella Culture is recommended (LAB 902)

Legionella Ur Ag A negative Legionella Urinary Antigen by EIA suggests no recent or current infection with L. pneumophila Serogroup 1. Antigen may not be present in urine in early infection and the level of antigen present in the urine may be below the detection limit of the test. Sensitivity: 95% Specificity 95%.
