Results are reported as Negative or Presumptive Pos. All Presumptive Pos results will automatically have confirmatory testing performed at an additional cost. Presumptive positive results are confirmed via the CDC recommended algorithm in the DHMC Chemistry Laboratory using the Geenius HIV-1/2 Ab Supplemental Assay.

| HIV Ab/Ag Screen | This 4th Generation HIV test screens for the presence of the HIV-1 p24 antigen as well as antibodies reactive against HIV-1 and HIV-2. A negative screen does not rule out an acute HIV infection. If acute HIV infection is suspected testing should be repeated in 2 – 3 weeks or HIV nucleic acid testing performed. |
