ANA (Antinuclear Antibody Screen)

Important Note

The ANA Antibody screen includes testing for Antinuclear and dsDNA antibodies.
A positive or equivocal result for the Antinuclear Antibody portion of the screen will reflex to an ENA Ab Profile.

ANA Ab Screen

This antinuclear antibody (ANA) screen is a qualitative test performed using a fluoroenzyme immunoassay on the Phadia 250 analyzer. This screen is designed to detect antibodies to U1RNP SS-A/Ro SS-B/La centromere B Scl-70 Jo-1 and Sm(Smith) proteins in serum samples. Antibodies to other nuclear antibodies will not be detected with this assay. This ANA screen is also performed in concert with a quantitative for IgG antibodies to dsDNA.

dsDNA Ab

<10 negative

10-15 equivocal

>15 positive

This dsDNA antibody result was generated using a fluoroenzyme immunoassay on the Phadia 250 analyzer. This quantitative test is designed to detect IgG antibodies directed against double stranded DNA in human serum. The presence of antibodies that recognize dsDNA is a highly specific marker for systemic lupus erythematosus.
