Sample must be immediately wrapped in an infant heel warmer and received in the Laboratory within 30 minutes of collection.
Samples received in the Laboratory not kept warm with an infant heel warmer are unacceptable and will be cancelled.

DHMC
After drawing blood, place tube on warm (37 degree C) infant heel warmer (peoplesoft # 0036214) and deliver to the Laboratory immediately. Sample must be immediately wrapped in an infant heel warmer and received in the Laboratory within 30 minutes of collection. Place in a 37°C water bath for a minimum of 2 hours, centrifuge and separate from cells immediately. Place separated (serum) in Chemistry water bath immediately.
FOR OFFSITES WITH ACCESS TO WATERBATH ONLY: Receive (redtop for cryoglobulin OR EDTA for cryofibinogen) on heel warmers within 30 minutes of collection. Place in a 37°C water bath for a minimum of 2 hours, centrifuge and separate from cells immediately. Place separated (serum OR plasma) in water bath until transporting to DHMC at room temperature.

Cryoglob | Identification of cryoglobulins is dependent upon appropriate sample handling. False negative results may occur if the proper sample handling steps are not followed. This test has not been cleared by the US FDA. Performance characteristics of this test were determined by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in accordance with CLIA requirements. This laboratory is qualified under CLIA to perform high-complexity testing. |
