Cyst CHE: CytoRich Red

Express aspirated material into a Cytolyt container; rinse needle and syringe multiple times by drawing fluid back into syringe.
Salivary Gland CHE: Formalin
MHMH: ThinPrep CytoLyt Vial 3-5 rinsed passes in pre-measured vial Express aspirated material into a Cytolyt container; rinse needle and syringe multiple times by drawing fluid back into syringe.
NOTE: Once the needle and syringe come in contact with Cytolyt, a new needle must be used for additional passes.
Smear slide in 95% Ethanol slide transport vial or spray-fixative in cardboard transport folder. 2 Slides: Ethanol fixed and air-dried.
Max: 4 slides Label slides: Full Name, MRN or DOB, specific source/ site
Express 1 drop of aspirated material on slide.
Place second labeled slide on top of aspirated material and draw two slides apart holding on to both frosted areas, resulting with material on the top side of both slide.
IMMEDIATELY: 1 slide 95% Ethanol transport vial or spray-fixative.
Do Not Allow Slide to Air Dry prior to 95% vial or spray fix
1 slide air-dried.
Air-dried smear slide, send in cardboard transport folder or slide transport vial.
All other FNA CHE: Formalin
MHMH: ThinPrep CytoLyt vial (preferred) or Formalin pre-filled container 4-6 passes in a pre-measured vial Express aspirated material into a Cytolyt container; rinse needle and syringe multiple times by drawing fluid back into syringe.
NOTE: Once the needle and syringe come in contact with Cytolyt or Formalin, a new needle must be used for additional passes.
Optional smear slides:
1- 95% Ethanol slide transport vial or spray fixed
AND
1- Air-dried, send in cardboard mailer or slide transport vial Label slides: Full Name, MRN or DOB, specific source/site
Express 1 drop of aspirated material on slide.
Place second labeled slide on top of aspirated material and draw two slides apart holding on to both frosted areas, resulting with material on the top side of both slide.
IMMEDIATELY: 1 slide 95% Ethanol transport vial or spray-fixative.
