Frozen Section, Tissue Biopsy, Surgical Pathology

Important Note

The Frozen Section is a STAT procedure.

  • Notify Lab Specimen Receiving (LSR) area at 5-7220 prior to sending the sample.
  • Transport or tube the specimen  to Lab Specimen Receiving (LSR) ASAP.
  • Questions can be referred to Surgical Pathology/Grosslab at 5-7216.

Frozen section reporting:

  • Frozen section reporting is verbal.
  • Provide a callback extension and/or pager for verbal reporting.
  • An electronic report is issued via eDH.

NOTE: 

When sending a sample between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m., please contact Lab Specimen Recieving (LSR) at 5-7220 as additional time may be needed to notify the on call Pathologist and Pathology Resident to allow them to travel back to the DH Campus.
