Specimen Stability
14 days, urine must be put into transport within 24 hours

Urine Collection Guide First catch (dirty) urine is preferred. Other urine sources are acceptable, however sensitivity/specificity may decrease.

Outreach (offsite) clinics should transfer 2mL of urine to the Aptima urine transport tube.
The only FDA approved specimen types for this assay are cervical, vaginal, urethral and urine. Non-FDA approved sources are eye, throat and rectal and have been internally validated.
